The top is a Lee Enfield in .303, good condition.

The bottom is a Spanish Mauser in 7x57, matching serial numbers.

Picked up the pair for 400$ out the door :)

Why does the Enfield look like some Elmer glued a Monte Carlo to it?

Great deal. And they look good.

That's exactly what he did :(
I don't mind it.
The Enfield alone was 150, the Mauser with the matching numbers was the pricier one.

Sales records suggest that the SKS seems to be obtaining the status of "weapon of choice" amongst the oppressed lower classes, who are strapped for cash. I would like to suggest that the newly available Enfield Mark 4, in 303 British, is a much better choice. Both of these pieces seem to be available for less than $200, but the Enfield is a real gun, where the SKS is a sort of hybrid. Of course the Enfield is a bolt-action weapon, where the SKS is semi-automatic. Some people feel that a self-loader is just better in all respects. They are wrong, but they are entitled to their opinion.-Jeff Cooper
Cooper mentioned the .303 Enfield numerous times. Seems he was a fan.

Two good rifles at a reasonable price. I've almost bought a Lee Enfield a couple of times, but each time hesitated because I have several other rifles in the same general category as the .303, and didn't want to add another caliber that was duplicative of what I already had. However, I'm sure one day desire will overcome common sense.

I'm envious.

Other than these two. I only have one rifle, a very light 30-06.
Even though ammo is a tad more expensive These will be a little softer shooters :)

Sounds like you're building a solid foundation.
